In the northeast of the country area is located in the beautiful city of Miranda do Douro, elevated to the rank of town and episcopal see in the year 1545. One of his best-known legends have as protagonist the baby Jesus Cartolinha of which is represented in of the altar of the imposing cathedral of this city.

The Douro River, with its 928 km long, is one of the largest river basins in Western Europe. The relief of this area is characterized by the engagement of its river network, where the valleys form steep slopes and cliffs, with up to 400 m in height, producing a stunning landscape. Here nature abounds in natural beauty and biodiversity.
